Liz, how do you feel that women don’t get much airplay on the radio as they did in the 90s when it comes to MCs, even RnB, and Rap? I listen to Power and all I hear is the same male artists over and over and over again. I know it’s hard for women to make a mark in an all male industry, but I wonder when will women who work in the stations start making larger strides than the great strides they have so far.
Either way, one of my favorite female artists of all time is Janet Jackson. She is like a queen to urban music, yet urban radio stations don’t play her! What’s up with that? You think you can get some JJ up in your morning mix? I know she has a new song out… Power doesn’t even have her on their list to vote for! What’s up with that? In a matter of fact… (had to double count) there are only two women in the playlist, that I can see at least; Keri Hilson and Mariah Carey!!!! That’s two out of nearly 35 songs on a playlist! Please play some Janet tomorrow or whenever you get this and get that radio station in check. Sorry I had to hit you up here, couldn’t find a direct way to message you.
Thanks, sorry for the long email.
